DRAWINGS and WATERCOLORS
Original Drawings & Watercolors are part of my daily practice. Each morning while I have my coffee and tea- I set up an area so that I can spend an hour or so working on drawings which I then paint with watercolors. These quiet morning moments have allowed me the quiet meditation that I crave before I start my day.
WORKS on PAPER
Monotypes and MonoPrints are essentially printed paintings, created by printing plates which have been hand painted on a plate by the artist such that each print is unique and one of a kind. A Monotype is a single print pulled from a unique, unetched image from which a perfect second impression cannot be made; MonoPrints begin with a repeatable matrix which is then manipulated by the artist before printing, resulting in unique images which include identical, repeatable elements. There are several challenges involved in the Mono-type/Mono-print process; the artist must prepate the plate rapidly or else the print can appear smeared and distorted; and layer order of the painting will be reversed when printed, so the artist must bear in mind that his or her first (bottom) marks will actually appear at the (top), while subsequent marks will appear in the background. Like a Flower
This collection on paper, Like a Flower started when the war broke out between Russia and Ukraine. It is the idea that even a flower could stop the war, a simple gesture, like during the numerous other wars of the world...one thing can change everything and bring Peace. We need to keep hope at the forefront, for people, animals and the planet.
In Between the Trees
This Collection of Acrylic and Mixed Media on Wood and Canvases were completed in May of 2023. In Between the Trees plays on the whispers that we hear throughout our life. Choosing to listen, waking up to the moment, the current moment in time, as we engage in each moment of our life. I like color as a playful antidote to the chaos and confusion in the world. Keep light coming in, and look for things that bring peace, good health, and unity in the world.
